The Romany S RM is a plastic version of the Romany S. Identical in design to its fibreglass sister, it's the ideal day or weekend kayak for the paddler who loves to rock hop and is available now from just £999.
The Romany S RM has the same boxy rails and flattish hull, offering good stability and handling when surfing or in a following sea. It has more volume in the rear compartments than the standard Romany, while keeping a low back deck to facilitate an easy layback roll.
T
he kayak is designed to fit kayakers from approx 5’4” to 6’4” tall. It has the same wide keyhole cockpit as the Romany S, and shares the same shaped foredeck which allows for large feet up to size 11/12. The fibreglass seat can easily be raised to suit smaller paddlers.
Unusually for a plastic sea kayak, the Romany S RM has a fibreglass cockpit rim, so you can choose from a wider range of spraydecks – nylon, neoprene or Reed Chillcheater. You can select the colour of the rim and seat (standard colour is black).
Like all SKUK kayaks, the Romany S RM has a Kari-Tek skeg, decklines with recessed fittings, three hatches, waterproof internal bulkheads and includes a compass recess. The kayak comes in a single layer construction for just £999; the slightly stiffer triple layer version costs £1075. It is available in one colour (light orange).

SKUK kayaks are fitted with a skeg which counteracts the kayak’s tendency to turn towards the wind - to weather-cock. SKUK’s skeg systems, developed in conjunction with Kari-Tek, use a robust skeg box made from durable ABS plastic. It’s moulded in one piece, making it watertight, and it has a large dagger-board shaped blade which drops further into the water thus increasing performance.
Three types of skeg are available in your new SKUK kayak: click here for details.
The new Kari-Tek Skeg Rudder System (SRS) is now available. Both a skeg and an understern rudder, the SRS gives you maximum flexibility. With all the great features of the Hydro Skeg® plus the benefits of a rudder, the SRS is set to change kayak rudders for ever. Click here for details.
